Making sure you receive good phone signal is one of the most important factors when choosing a network but those living in Stockport may find that a problem.
It has been named the worst place in Britain for mobile signal strength, according to a new study.
The Greater Manchester town was found to regularly experience a lack of signal strength across all four of the UK’s major networks – O2, Three, Vodafone and EE – with Three found to be the weakest, research by new comparison app Yboo, shows.
Bromley was the second location found to have the next weakest signal, with Vodafone found to have the weakest network in the area, despite its location in a London Borough where it would be expected to have a good signal range.

The app offers a ‘my coverage map’ feature that lets users to see exactly how good mobile signal is for a variety of phone networks is, including the major four, in locations where they spend most of their time.
It also recommends what phone deals would then be best for the consumer.
Currently, the app, which was launched last year, only lets customers see the best deals for handsets and Sim-only deals.
It says Sim-only contracts are one of the biggest growing market areas with a rise of 10 per cent last year.
This is likely due to people no longer wanting to pay to upgrade their phone and instead stick with a phone that already has a good level of technology.
As smartphones get more advanced – as well as more expensive – consumers are realising it is more beneficial to stick with their handset and switch to a Sim-only contract to save money.
The yboo app works by monitoring a users location to see where they spend most of their time and collate the data as to which network has the best signals in those locations.
The app also monitors how much data and wi-fi you use so it can tailor deals that work specifically for you.
At present, iOS users will have to wait five days before getting their results while Android users have to wait seven days.
Yboo is keen to confirm that anyone using the app will remain anonymous and there is no registration needed to use the service, meaning customers will receive completely impartial information.
The company, which has had 40,000 users to date, receives a percentage of the money from any handset or Sim-only deal the customer purchases through the app.
It also confirmed the most important aspect of their business is providing customer service and they have turned down using certain providers, including Asda Mobile and Freedom Pop, as the firms were unable to adequately explain their terms and conditions.
Martyn Gould, founder and chief executive at Yboo, said: ‘This is the first time that the public has been able to access accurate, unbiased and transparent information relating to signal strength in a way that is relevant and personalised for them.
‘The mobile industry has been notoriously confusing for the past 15 years and our goal is to help people to find the best network based on their usage of minutes, texts, data and wi-fi in the places that are most important for them.
‘Not only can people make significant savings on their mobile bills, but they can also avoid that most irritating of situations – getting cut off due to a lack of signal.’
Millions of mobile phone users are also set to see a hike in their monthly bills on April 1 as EE, O2, Three and Vodafone are all putting up their prices in line with the Retail Prices Index measure of inflation.
EE customers will see increases of 2.7 per cent whilst O2, Three and Vodafone customers will see a hike of 2.5 per cent.
